情人節當然要先了解情人節的來源啊

There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine’s Day.
Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine,
a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity.
He died on February 14, 269 A.D..

關於情人節的起源有許多種說法。
有專家認爲情人節是一個名叫聖瓦倫丁的人士發起的。
他是羅馬人，因爲拒絕放棄基督教
而於公元前269年2月14日慘遭殺害。

Before dying he wrote a letter to a blind girl,
expressing his love to her.
On the day he was executed,
the blind girl planted an almond tree in front of his tomb
to give expression to her missing.
And that is the Valentine’s Day, February 14th.

臨刑前聖瓦倫丁給姑娘寫了封信，表明了對姑娘的深情。
在他被處死的當天，盲女在他墓前種了一棵開紅花的杏樹，
以寄託自己的情思。這天就是2月14日情人節。

Gradually, February 14 became
the date for exchanging love messages
and St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers.
The date was marked by sending poems
and simple gifts such as flowers.
There was often a social gathering or a ball.

此後，2月14日就成爲人們向心儀的人傳達愛意的日子，
而理所當然聖瓦倫丁也成了為戀愛中男女們牽線搭橋的人。
情人節當天人們會特意以詩或者送小禮物給自己心愛的人，
人們還會組織各種聚會慶祝。

4）My river runs to thee.
Blue sea, wilt thou welcome me?
My river awaits reply.
Oh! sea, look graciously.

我是一條朝你奔流而去的小溪，
藍色的大海啊，你願意接納我嗎？
優雅的大海啊！
