The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday occurring near the summer solstice. The festival now occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar.

端午節是一個發生於夏至前後的傳統節日，日期是在農曆第五個月的第五天。

Three of the most widespread activities conducted during the Dragon Boat Festival are eating (and preparing) rice dumplings, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats.

在端午節這天人們最常做的活動有吃(及準備)粽子、喝雄黃酒，以及賽龍舟。

There are many origins of the Dragon Boat Festival, but two of them are more widely known. One is that, before the Qin Dynasty, the fifth day of the fifth month was considered by people as a bad day, and people thought out of many ways to avoid back luck.

端午節的由來有非常多種說法，而其中有兩個最廣為人知。第一個是以前在秦朝時，人們相信一年中第五個月的第五天是不吉的日子，因此想出了很多方法趨吉避凶。

The other origin is that the festival commemorates the death of the Chinese poet, Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River. It is said that the local people, who admired him, raced out in their boats to save him, which is said to have been the origin of dragon boat races.

另一個由來是，端午節是為了紀念投汨羅江的中國詩人屈原。當地仰慕他的居民紛紛出船為了救他，或至少找尋到他的遺體。這就是人們在端午節賽龍舟的由來。

When his body could not be found, they dropped balls of sticky rice into the river so that the fish would eat them instead of Qu Yuan's body, which created the tradition of people eating rice dumplings on this day.

然而他的遺體最終未能找到，因此人們將黏糯米糰丟到江中餵給魚吃，讓他們不要吃屈原的遺體。而這是端午節吃粽子的由來。
